Summit Heliskiing Iceland operates out of Sóti Lodge in Fljótin, where the heart of Icelandic ski adventuring beats. It takes about an hour and a half to reach us from Akureyri domestic airport, and about five hours to drive the 450 km from Reykjavík. Transfers from Akureyri are included in our multi day packages and can be added to our customizable tours upon request.
The Fljótin region is often nicknamed “the cradle of Icelandic skiing” – due to the lack of roads and the prevailing winter snow conditions, the normal transportation means for people from Fljótin was by ski, and Barðshyrna, the mountain in the Sóti Lodges backyard, hosted the first ski tournament in Iceland in 1905.
The location of the Lodge along with the access to the swimming pool, hot tubs and sauna make this the perfect place to spend your skiing holiday in Iceland. The comfort of the Lodge with the meals included at the exclusive restaurant can only be topped with the perfect slopes of Troll Peninsula in North Iceland. Join us for an epic skiing adventure!
