We’ll take a short break from our Guide Spotlight series now, to highlight one of the other key elements of a Summit Heliskiing holiday – and that is, of course, the fantastic Sóti Lodge!

The perfect location

Right at the northernmost tip of the Troll peninsula, Sóti Lodge is mere minutes away from a wealth of peaks and runs. The vast majority of the terrain on the peninsula is skiable, and made up of a mix of tabletop mountains and deep valleys carved out by ancient glaciers. We’ve got gullies, sea views, mountain mazes, steep fast runs, long gentle runs – and the long daylight hours to make the most of all of them!

Countryside charm and quality facilities

Sóti Lodge itself is a true gem – nestled contentedly in the Flókadalur valley, it features seven modern bedrooms each with a private bathroom and high-quality mattresses. Upstairs you’ll find a charming open dining area and lounge – the perfect setting for a refreshing beer or energising coffee, and downstairs you’ll find a heated kit room, where you can hang all of your outer layers and make use of the boot dryers ready for the new day.

Guests at Sóti Lodge also have access to the delightful Barðslaug geothermal swimming pool, and those joining us for the heli season can also participate in unique flotation sessions to relax the mind and body after a big day out.

Meet our heroes

What’s very special about the lodge, however, are the fantastic people who bring it to life. Prepare for lovingly-cooked continental breakfasts, mountain-ready lunches and gourmet three-course dinners courtesy of head chef and hotel manager Nicolas, and get ready to be amazed by Helga, who not only manages cleaning and service, but also applies her creative genius to the Summit Heliskiing’s social media pages.

You may also bump into owners Ólöf Ýrr and Arnar, the team behind the entire Summit product. Despite running the high-level operations behind the lodge and Summit Heliskiing brand, they’re always happy to dive in as helping hands for the lodge staff team. Whether that means assisting in the kitchen, serving dinner, ironing or lifeguarding at the pool, they are committed to ensuring everything runs smoothly on every level.

So there you have it! We’re very proud of our venue and the wonderful team who keep everything running smoothly, and we are delighted to welcome you to our very own Sóti Lodge.
